Today's Flowers

I think most people wouldn't think to wear these colors
together—but when Mother Nature came up with the purple
coneflower she went all out!  This also explains why my niece,
who has bright copper-colored hair, looks stunning in hot pink.

Weekend Reflections

The quartier around the Canal St. Martin used to be one
of the sketchiest areas of Paris, and now it's tres chic.
Yet another neighborhood I can no longer afford—sigh.

52 Photos Project

Today's prompt (thanks to Bella's daughter) is chocolate!
These were for sale at Dean and Deluca, NYC food
emporium extraordinaire (and expensive).  I'm no
mathematician
(understatement!), but I have to wonder why you'd buy
6-inch cake for $50 when you can get two 3-inch cakes for $30.

Today's Flowers

I wait all year for the water lily pond at my local botanic
garden to burst into bloom—finally, that time is here!

Weekend Reflections

To my mind (and, granted, I'm biased), there are
few reflections more beautiful than the lights on the quais
and bridges of Paris reflected in the Seine.  Agree?

52 Photos Project

The prompt this week: The table set for mealtime.
This was shot at the end of a fabulous once-
(well, actually, twice-) in-a-lifetime 3-star
meal I got
to enjoy at the Grand Véfour, in Paris—where we were
seated at what had been Napoleon and Josephine's "usual table"!

Monday Doorways

The doorway is monumental and the Swiss Guards
are colorful as always—but the thing I love best
here is the gorgeous verdigris color of this door.

Weekend Reflections

This was taken from the Shelter Island ferry,
so even a tripod wouldn't have helped—
still, I couldn't resist going for this reflection.

52 Photos Project

This week's prompt: a summertime treat.
I get mine at my local greenmarket—juicy,
delicious, good-for-you, photogenic fresh fruit!

Today's Flowers

I've shown the 40,000+ bulbs that bloom each
year in the Brooklyn Botanic's Bluebell Wood
but I spotted these closer to home, tucked up against

the stone foundation of my apartment building.

Weekend Reflections

Recently passed by Ralph Lauren's huge store at
Madison and 72nd. Didn't go in (mainly because
 there's nothing in there I can afford)—but I
definitely enjoyed the window shopping!

52 Photos Project

This week's prompt: in the garden, to capture
summer's bounty/blooms.  This week in my local garden,
the spring flowers are fading or gone and many of the
summer ones not yet in full bloom—so this cornflower stood out.

Today's Flowers

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow;
they toil not, neither do they spin.

Weekend Reflections

Welcome to Central Park's Conservatory Pond,
where kids launch their remote-control sailboats
(well, it may be that not all the sailors are kids).
