Once again I have to say that I have no idea what these bright pink blooms might be—maybe someone can tell me—but aren't they fun? [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
There's nothing blooming in the garden right now, but I received an amaryllis bulb for Christmas. I planted it, watered it, and tried not to check for progress on a daily basis. But it grew and began to bloom, and one day when I looked— lo and behold—this miracle had appeared! [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
Found a planter filled to the brim with these pretty yellow blooms this past week. Wonder how they fared today—when it snowed! [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
This pretty pink cleome (aka spider plant) has been blooming by the curb in front of my Brooklyn apt. building for months. It made it through Hurricane Irene and is still going strong. [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
I'd like to be able to make the peonies bloom at will—and that's not happening. But at least I can show them here even when they're not in bloom in the garden. [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
I inherited this (once neglected) geranium from a colleague at work, and I didn't hold out a lot of hope because it looked pretty sad when I got it home. But TLC, fresh water, and a little "sweet talk" every day have brought it back from the brink—it has even decided to bloom again! [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
It's getting near the time when the (affordable) flower vendor stops coming to my weekly greenmarket— I'll really miss having fresh flowers like these in the house. [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
The autumn season is officially here —and this is the flower I associate most with fall. So this week I choose a couple of big yellow sunflowers. [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
I'm pretty sure this is a hibiscus—until now, the only place I ever saw one of these is Hawaii and always assumed that this is strictly a tropical flower. But I took this shot right here in Brooklyn. [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
These unpretentious nasturtiums were blooming in Marie Antoinette's garden at Le Hameau, the place where she and her courtiers played at being "simple folk" while living at Versailles. [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
Saw these colorful cosmos at the local greenmarket. Didn't bring them home, though, because they just don't last that long when you cut them— on the other hand, I can look at this picture forever. [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
I'm sorry to say that I have absolutely no idea what this purple bloom is (and it's probably not the last time I'll be forced to make that admission). But I'll bet someone out there can tell me! [To see more, visit Today's Flowers.]

Today's Flowers
If you visit the folks who live here at #22, you're greeted by this gorgeous lacecap hydrangea. If I didn't live in an apartment, I'd definitely have one of these! [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
What could be a more fitting symbol for rebirth than a flower that rises from muddy water to become this beautiful bloom? [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
I think most people wouldn't think to wear these colors together—but when Mother Nature came up with the purple coneflower she went all out! This also explains why my niece, who has bright copper-colored hair, looks stunning in hot pink. [To see more flowers, go here.]

Today's Flowers
I've shown the 40,000+ bulbs that bloom each year in the Brooklyn Botanic's Bluebell Wood— but I spotted these closer to home, tucked up against the stone foundation of my apartment building. [To see more flowers, go here.]
