Sunday Bridges

This is what you get when you try to shoot the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges—
at night and from a boat on choppy water. (To be honest, I like the effect.)

Here's the same thing, captured with slightly less movement a few moments later.

Weekend Reflections

Sacré Coeur, in Paris, with the late-afternoon
sun creating a reflection in the stained-glass window.

Sunday Bridges

How about a detail?  This little bird is perched
on one of the cables of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Weekend Reflections

This sculpture, at the U.N., was a gift from Italy.
It's one of several versions of "Sphere Within Sphere,"
by Arnaldo Pomodoro.  Don't know what the sculptor meant,
but if you see it as a broken globe then it seems fitting that
we should see ourselves reflected in it—after all, we
really haven't taken very good care of our planet up to now.

Sunday Bridges

This is the Triborough Bridge, so-called because
it connects the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens.

Weekend Reflections

My favorite Venice wine bar is a friendly, cozy
place to be on a chilly winter evening.  Wish
I could stop by there on my way home tonight!

Sunday Bridges

As seen from the very tippy-top of Notre Dame's south
tower, here are the Pont de la Tournelle and the Pont de
Sully just beyond. (For a "hat trick +1," the Austerlitz and
Charles de Gaulle bridges are just visible in the distance.)

Weekend Reflections

I'm a sucker for a puddle reflection—
and I'm willing to go all the way to Rome's
Trastevere neighborhood to find one!
