This sculpture, at the U.N., was a gift from Italy. It's one of several versions of "Sphere Within Sphere," by Arnaldo Pomodoro. Don't know what the sculptor meant, but if you see it as a broken globe then it seems fitting that we should see ourselves reflected in it—after all, we really haven't taken very good care of our planet up to now. that is so true!

J'adore cette scuplture, que j'avais d'ailleurs postée pour Défifoto ... Même source d'inspiration ?
ReplyDeleteThis is a great capture.
ReplyDeleteAlexa, I agree with you. This is a warning. We should realize it before too late.
ReplyDeleteAlways great photo!

I agree with your interpretation of the sculpture : it feels exactly the same for me when I see those reflections... Nice work from him et from you...
ReplyDeleteLove this reflection and spheres with a reflective surface always make for interesting ones... even when we have broken it

Nice use of the color and light of the globe.
ReplyDeleteReally cool shot! Reminds me of the "Bean" in Chicago, IL.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting interpretation. Not only the meaning of the sculpture, but of the meme. Thanks for the thought provoking photo!
