52 Photos Project

The prompt for Week 45: vintage

This one was really fun!  And it gave me a
chance to play with a new camera app that I just
put on my phone.  This lovely Venetian inkwell
and glass-and-silver pen are on my desk—and
I actually do use them from time to time.
P.S., the ink is red.

Weekend Reflections

City lights are reflected all over this ridiculous—
but fun—stretch limo that was parked outside my
office when I left the other night.  The driver was kindly
snapping pics of some kids who were admiring his
over-the-top vehicle.  It wasn't there for me, but
that's okay because I prefer to walk.  :~}

The prompt for Week 44: harmony

Here's where I find my harmony—in the

perfect balance of earth, sea, and sky.
Where do you find yours?

Weekend Reflections

Went to church with friends I was visiting
near Charlottesville, VA. Have to admit that
although the service was lovely, I was more than
a little distracted by this beautiful reflection.
I did at least wait until the church had emptied
out before slipping back in to take this shot.

52 Photos Project

The prompt for Week 43: love

When I was growing up, I always wanted a sister
and got brothers instead.  While that actually worked
out very well, when Lila was 18 months old I was thrilled to
give her a little sister.  She just loved Kate, and vice versa.
They've had their moments to be sure, but I have to say . . .

Katie and Lila are still loving sisters—
and I trust they always will be.
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Weekend Reflections

"You know those ducks in that lagoon right
near Central Park South? That little lake?
By any chance, do you happen to know where
they go, the ducks, when it gets all frozen over?"
The Catcher in the Rye

They don't go anywhere, Holden.  See?

The prompt for Week 42: hearts

When I traveled to Ecuador this past fall, I
spent a night at the most beautiful hotel.
Framing the back door of our suite was this
vine that has heart-shaped flowers and leaves.

Weekend Reflections

My daughter Lila captured these colorful reflections
in the tomb of former Argentine president Raul Alfonsin,
in Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires.  (His presidency
followed the fall of the last military junta and the
so-called Dirty War, when so many were "disappeared.")
