Weekend Reflections

This early-17th-century nautilus cup is just one
of too-many-to-count things gifted to the
Metropolitan Museum of Art by J. Pierpont Morgan.
The silver gilt mounts depict Neptune riding a whale,
with Jonah emerging unscathed from its mouth.
(Even the shell alone would be beautiful enough, I think.)

  2. Beautiful! Coincidentally I was just thinking about J.P. Morgan before I came here. :-)
