52 Photos Project
The prompt this week: Where I put my head down. To rest, to sleep, to dream. My go-to spot to renew my spirit. I inherited this turn-of-the-century (the 20th century, that is) tiger oak sleigh bed from my wonderful grandmother Miss Lucy; it's shorter than a standard bed, but that's okay since I'm shorter than a standard person. Sunday Bridges
We got our first snow of the year yesterday, and I took a walk in the botanic garden— and crossed this pretty little stone bridge over a frozen stream. [To see more Sunday bridges, go chez Louis la Vache.] |

Weekend Reflections
Saw this at MOMA last week: You step into a black space with a shiny floor and a movie projected onto one wall. The film shows the side of a house falling over a series of men— but they're untouched because they're standing exactly where the (open) window is. I was just drawn to the reflection, of course. 52 Photos Project
The prompt this week: Color With Emotion —the colors we surround ourselves with, the colors we use in our house, in our art, the colors of our everyday. Just looking at this photo makes me feel peaceful. I kept these lily-of-the-valley (my fave) long after their time because I actually love their pale hue, especially combined here with the subtle patina of old silver. And that lightest shade of aqua in the background? I've painted two ceilings in my place that very color. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

Weekend Reflections
I think NYC is beautiful at night, even without the extra holiday lights—but I still miss them the rest of the year. [To see more Weekend Reflections, visit James's meme.] |

52 Photos Project
The prompt this week: Pick a subject and move in. I love this assignment—and even though I don't have a macro lens, I can still get this close. And I promised the fishmonger I'd mention that his fish are very fresh (as you can see). [To see more of the 52 Photos project, visit Bella's meme.] |

Sunday Bridges
The other day I was reminiscing about encountering loooong freight trains down in Virginia when I was a kid. Came across this one when I was there last week— fortunately, we didn't have to wait as it rolled slowly by. To see more Sunday bridges, visit Louis la Vache.] |

Monochrome Weekend Reflections
This was taken in the days BD (before digital)— and before WR too! We were on the motoscafo from the airport to Venice (my fave way to arrive). [To see more Weekend Reflections, visit James's meme. To see more monochromes, go here.] |

52 Photos Project
The prompt this week: a new beginning— capture one moment in time from this day. I've been out in the (mostly Internetless) country for the past 4 days and didn't see the prompt until I got home just after midnight tonight. I was in airports and on planes most of the day, but on the way to the airport I stopped at a very cool shop and my eye went directly to this chest. I just think it's beautiful, and I'd love to be able to create something like this myself. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |
