Monochrome Weekend Reflections

This was taken in the days BD (before digital)—
and before WR too!  We were on the motoscafo from
the airport to Venice (my fave way to arrive).

monochrome weekend

Here's someone we all look up to
(or, in this case, at). It's Presidents'
Day tomorrow, so Happy
Birthday, George.

I love the wavy glass in this Paris
window—and I wish I was looking
through it right now!

monochrome weekend

This is in the Boboli Gardens, in Florence.
It was done by Igor Mitoraj, but with the trees
behind it, it looks like a big Chia Pet to me.

monochrome weekend

These are the beautiful library lions
in front of the NY Public Library. In
the 1930s, during the Depression,
Mayor Fiorello La Guardia named them
Patience (seen here in the foreground)
and Fortitude, two traits New Yorkers
needed then—as we do again now.

Monochrome Weekend

I found this precious little putti in
a church in Rome. He's probably been
there for centuries, but he looks just
like the child of a friend of mine!

monochrome weekend

This one was shot along the banks of the Tiber River,
in Rome. I took it on 3/20/2003, the day the U.S.
rolled into Iraq. Who even imagined we'd still be
there almost 7 years later?

Monochrome Weekend

Here's my offering for a meme I found today:
just one rule—your photo must be b&w or sepia.
Took this at Lexington Avenue and
50-something Street.
