The prompt for Week 52—"like silk" Actually, I have some silk peonies, and they look very much like this real one. Well, maybe not quite as beautiful. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

The prompt for Week 51: "simplicity" Just coming into bloom this past Sunday, the first tulip of the season was a creamy white—and very simple—one called 'Sweetheart'. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

The prompt for Week 50: "indulgent treats" Actually, I showed some pretty good treats last week too, but those are available right here in NYC. Going for these really would be an indulgence; I'd have to fly all the way to Paris and visit Blé Sucré, a patisserie that also has what many consider the best croissants in town. The prompt for Week 49: "pastel colors" At the Ladurée shop in Manhattan: picking out an assortment of yummy macarons in pretty pastel colors. The flavor of the pink ones is rose— delicious, but I only ever choose my fave, caramel au fleur de sel. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

The prompt for Week 48—"empty space" I'm a fortunate woman—who got to sail around the Galapagos a couple of years ago. The first night out, I woke up around 3 a.m. and went up to the bow of the boat. Nothing but moonlight on the Pacific as far as the eye could see. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

The prompt for Week 47—"liquid" . . . or at least what's left of the water, wine, and coffee that were enjoyed with lunch at Circonstances, a great Paris restaurant. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

The prompt for Week 45: "one woman I love" There are lots of wonderful women in my life, but if I could only feature one of them the "winner" would have to be my mother— and . . . today is her 95th birthday! [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

The prompt for Week 44: "across the street" In this case, I was standing on the south side of Houston Street and looking across the lanes of traffic at Lady Aiko's mural on the Bowery and Houston Street Art Wall. Other murals have been here since and the wall was taken down altogether in July because a building is going up—but supposedly it will be back when the building is completed. Hope so. Artists (including Keith Haring) have been livening up this corner of Manhattan for 30 years. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

The prompt for Week 42—"orange" Here's something I'm really looking forward to, especially considering the frigid, frigid temps (and snow) we've been dealing with here lately. (I've also been having fun playing along with Xanthe and Andrea @colorcolourlovers, so this shot will definitely show up on Instagram too.) The prompt for Week 41: "This smells heavenly" And did it ever! I smelled this lavender (for sale at my local greenmarket) long before I actually saw it—and just followed my nose right to it. In addition to these fragrant sachets, there was also fresh lavender, in pots and bouquets. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

The prompt for Week 39—"wildlife" Well, I live in the city, so it was basically a squirrel, a rat, a pigeon . . . or this shot from my recent New Year's visit to Florida—where this little guy was sunning himself on the "cage" that encloses my friends' pool and patio. The prompt for Week 38: "teal" This monument on his tombstone celebrates the French artist Théodore Géricault, who died when he was only 32. His most famous work, painted when he was 27, was the (at the time) controversial "Raft of the Medusa" (which can be seen at the Louvre). [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

The prompt for Week 36: "nature's gifts" As I compose this post, the weather here in NYC features snow and freezing temps. But I got to spend last week 1,000 miles south of here, with hot sun, palm trees—and fresh hibiscus blossoms to gather and admire. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |
