A peony in full fabulous bloom is truly a
beautiful thing.  But I also like to capture them
when their petals begin to fall and you can

The next time I go to Venice when they're

Only one? Are you kidding? Oh okay, fine—I'll admit it:
At this exact moment what I really really love is my new iPad.
(Thanks, Santa!) And I especially love this drawing app.  I can't 
draw (obviously) but I can tap my finger repeatedly on a screen.
 (This was my very first effort—next step: actual lines!)

Just came across this fun meme with a weekly theme.
It's already up to Week 11, but I couldn't resist
playing along with this week's theme, "The Eyes of March,"
and already thinking about the theme for Week 12.

The prompt this week: outside the lines.

I've learned to follow this rule: Always go for the picture even 
(or maybe especially) when you're not at all sure it will work.
I've gotten some of my favorite shots this way, like this 
one of the spires of lower Manhattan—taken at night from the 
Staten Island Ferry as it bobbed up and down in choppy waters.

The prompt this week: This is my home.
(Where do you go when it's time to go home?)

Pretty much every evening, my commute takes me from
 Manhattan on a walk across this beautiful bridge.  When I 
get over there to the other side, I'm in Brooklyn—and
 very much at home in my favorite part of New York City.
