bridge at versailles
Another old photo (i.e., way before digital).
This little bridge leads the way to Marie
Antoinette's "petit hameau" at Versailles,
where she and her attendants would play
at being milkmaids and shepherdesses.

Manhattan Bridge
You might wonder why the photographer
didn't use the bridge as a backdrop. But
he did—only he used the Brooklyn Bridge,
out of view on the left. This little park in
Brooklyn gives you a great view of both.

Ponte Vecchio (2)
Another take on Florence's most
famous (and most beautiful) bridge.
(I can hardly count the number of
times I've been to this fascinating
city, and every single time I have
to take pix of the Ponte Vecchio!)

Calle Centopiere Bridge
This picturesque little bridge passes over
the Rio della Toletta, in Dorsoduro, my
favorite Venice neighborhood.

2 Things Challenge: smooth/ripple
Raindrops created ripples on the smooth
surface of this Venetian canal.

Weekend Reflections
Saw these colorful kayaks (and
their reflections) in Ithaca, N.Y.

Pont des Invalides
I think this is a lovely bridge, but it tends
to be overshadowed by the elegant
Pont Alexandre III, just upriver—not to
mention the Grand Palais at its Right
Bank end and the golden dome of the
Invalides nearby on the Left Bank.
