| The prompt for Week 2: "criss-cross" I made this cross-stitch sampler for my mother-in-law —the only Italian mama I ever knew who didn't much care whether you ate or not— more than 30 years ago. She lived with us for a year and a half before she died and the thing she liked best about it was that she didn't have to cook! (Now it's in my kitchen—which is appropriate, because I've become a reluctant cook too.) [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, visit Bella's meme.] |

52 Photos Project
| The prompt for Week 2—"microscopic" Faced with this challenge, I went on a quest for the sweetest, eensy-teensiest flowers I could find at the botanic garden—and here they are: perfect beauties at +/- a quarter-inch across. [To see more of the 52 Photos Project, see Bella's meme. |

52 Photos Project
| Prompt for Week 2: Capture the sun shining in your life Maybe this is more like the sun shining on my life. I saw this heavenly light beaming down on the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and New York harbor as I was crossing in a ferry from Governor's Island to lower Manhattan one late afternoon.
