52 Photos Project

Prompt for Week 6: light in the dark

My ancestors were already here a couple of centuries
before this lady graced the New York harbor,
but my kids' paternal ancestors were greeted by her
when they arrived from Sicily in the early 20th century.
I decided on this shot (taken from a dinner cruise
around the harbor) because it seems to fit this
week's brief both literally and figuratively.

  1. Great image. One of these days I am going to visit New York and see this lady in person. It's on the wishlist.

  7. Absolutely fabulous frame of the statue. My ancestors are similar, only the ones coming over were Irish. =)
