The prompt this week: a sweet escape.

Last March I snuck off to Paris for a few days
with my two daughters. Yes, it was short, but
oh so sweet.  And, no, we did not stay at the
Ritz—really, who can stay at the Ritz?
But it's so much fun to dress up and 
go there for the fabulous high tea.

The prompt this week:  What inspires you?

Wow—had to think about this one.  With my camera in hand, 
I'm always inspired by Paris, or Venice, or Rome.  But I'm 
trying hard to find inspiration in my own hometown—and 
especially to see it through fresh eyes.  This is not a brand new 
photo, but it is a very good example of what I mean:  Midtown West 
and the Hudson River, seen through a 32nd-floor broken window.

The prompt this week: revisit one from the last year.
My choice is Week One: Nourish
I'm glad to go back to the beginning of this meme,
since I was several weeks late to the party. When I visit the
greenmarket, I sometimes feel guilty about buying flowers
—then I remind myself that they nourish my soul every bit
as much as the veggies, etc. I buy there nourish my body.

And who wouldn't love to
wake up to this sight?

Once again I have to say that
I have no idea what these bright
pink blooms might be—maybe
someone can tell me—but
aren't they fun?

The prompt this week: a love note.
I was very young and he wasn't famous yet.
As we sat at a café in Paris, he asked the waiter for a
scrap of paper, wrote these lines from Shakespeare's Sonnet #29
(and got them mostly right), then pressed the paper into my hand.
Hadn't thought about him for ages, but I've kept his note for 45 years!

Today's Flowers

There's nothing blooming in the garden right now,
but I received an amaryllis bulb for Christmas.
I planted it, watered it, and tried not to check for
progress on a daily basis. But it grew and began
to bloom, and one day when I looked—
lo and behold—this miracle had appeared!
