When Lady Liberty was first dedicated
in 1886, she was a coppery hue,
something like an old penny.  I think
she probably looks even lovelier now that
she has aged to a pretty minty color.

Prompt for Week 6: light in the dark

My ancestors were already here a couple of centuries
before this lady graced the New York harbor,
but my kids' paternal ancestors were greeted by her
when they arrived from Sicily in the early 20th century.
I decided on this shot (taken from a dinner cruise
around the harbor) because it seems to fit this
week's brief both literally and figuratively.

Prompt for Week 2:
Capture the sun shining in your life

Maybe this is more like the sun shining on my life.
I saw this heavenly light beaming down on the
Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and New York harbor as
I was crossing in a ferry from Governor's Island
to lower Manhattan one late afternoon.
