| Haven't been to this wonderful meme in a while. But I wanted to share these images of the precious putti I found on a recent trip to Rome. (These were all in the Vatican Museum, where—hallelujah— you are welcome to take all the photos you want.) [You can see more mosaics at Mary's little red house.] |

Mosaic Monday

My mom's next-door neighbors waited four
years for their little girl, and were finally
able to travel to China and bring this
beautiful child home about 5 months ago.
She's just so bright and happy now. I'd say
she was worth the wait, wouldn't you?

Mosaic Monday

Got a new camera, and I've been having
a little fun playing with the color values
in some of my photos.

Mosaic Monday

I was born just a mile (20 blocks) north
of the Chrysler Building—and now I work
right across 42nd Street from it. For me,
it's still New York's most beautiful skyscraper.

It's a feast for the eyes (and the
palate) at the Saturday greenmarket
here in Brooklyn.

More roses—because where there were only
a few rose bushes in bloom a week or two ago,
now there are thousands! See here.

Caught these luscious bluebells two weekends
in a row—though they appear to be two entirely
different colors, that's just because one weekend
it was raining and the other it was sunny (and more
than 40,000 were planted here!).

The roses are just beginning to bloom
in the botanic garden here in Brooklyn.
Here's how the first of them looked after
a spring shower.

Mosaic Monday

It's almost like time-lapse
photography, no? :~)
(Well, these shots were taken
over a span of a couple of weeks.)

Mosaic Monday

Walked around the Brooklyn Botanic
Garden two weeks ago and only the
crocus and the Chinese witch hazel
were in bloom. Took a quick stroll
through there on Saturday and
found all this and more flowering
in a brilliant burst of color! Within
a few days the garden's famous
cherry blossoms will be in full
bloom too—can't wait.

mosaic monday

We had some crazy weather around New York
this weekend. I was out on Long Island.
Sadly, some big old trees didn't survive the
storm, but as far as I know no one was hurt.

Here she is—my favorite NY lady
(plus a few imposters).

My colleague and I decorated the bulletin board in
our office for Valentine's Day. The silver wrapper
bottom left says "Remember your first crush"—and
that's mine, circa 1960-something.

The snow missed us here in NYC this time,
but I hear we may get slammed later this
week. To be honest, it doesn't really affect
me that much, since my commute to work
is completely underground. And the city
looks so pretty—for a few hours, at least.
On the other hand, Mary is thinking of
spring—check out her mosaic (and
others) here.

Two new things to be grateful for this morning:
I don't have to go to work today, and I just
discovered this fun meme.
