52 Photos Project

The prompt for Week 46—"gold"

All that glitters . . . may be the chandeliers
and the gilded ceiling of the Metropolitan Opera,
at Lincoln Center in New York.

Weekend Reflections

Back in July, I showed you the very elegant
entrance lobby of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.  Here's
the back door—not exactly a mud room, is it?

52 Photos Project

The prompt for Week 14—Down below

This is the intersection of 8th Avenue

and 56th Street as seen from the 32nd floor
of the Hearst Bldg.  When I worked here, some
of the staff never came anywhere near our
vertigo-inducing, outward-leaning, floor-to-ceiling
windows—and at least one couldn't get enough of them.

Weekend Reflections

I think the Museum of Natural History is
endlessly fascinating (and they don't mind if
you take pictures—yay).  I'd probably be there a lot
more often if it were less expensive, but I could
say that about most of the museums in NYC.

52 Photos Project

The prompt for Week 34: What's Cooking?

It's a perfect pasta dish, just part of a
delicious lesson in pairing food and
wine to best complement each other.
Part of the appeal for me, I must admit,
is that someone else cooked it!

Weekend Reflections

They host lots of arts events here in the
atrium of the World Financial Center
(and never charge a cent for any of them).
But I like this place when it's empty and
you can best appreciate the majestic space.

The prompt for Week 18: on the street

Hey, who's walking whom?
Here on the corner of 5th Avenue and
23rd Street, this cat and his man barely
warranted a second glance from
most of the folks passing by—
I just love this city!

Weekend Reflections

Had dinner with some good friends recently
at this inventively decorated Thai restaurant—
a bit of an oasis in the midst of all the
42nd Street/theater district madness.

Spring has Sprung!

I walked past this place last week and I'm
pretty sure none of these flowers were there
—could they really have popped up so quickly?

Weekend Reflections

The owners of this East Side brownstone
have added a nifty greenhouse window.
They might have a privacy problem when
the lights are on in there though.

52 Photos Project

The prompt this week: Me—a self-portrait

Intriguing assignment, and not that easy

(I'm the one behind the camera for a reason)!
But thanks to a fun photo website,
here I am bigger than life in Times Square.
I'm curious to see the rest of you!

52 Photos Project

The prompt this week: What makes you laugh?

I saw this rather rude fish in a
grocery store in Chinatown. He made
me laugh out loud then, and I still
chuckle every time I look at this picture.

Weekend Reflections

Happened to look down from my office
recently and saw the sunlight glinting off
a neighboring skyscraper and onto the
sidewalk. Looks like water, doesn't it?

Weekend Reflections

This looks kind of like a double exposure, doesn't it?
But it's just the subway reflected in the subway.

Weekend Reflections

Went to Soho with friends who were visiting
from out of town. While they were shopping,
I was admiring this mirror framed
with molding from an old tin ceiling.

Weekend Reflections

This display of mirrors caught my eye—
and this guy's as well—at a flea market
on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Weekend Reflections

Barnes & Noble sells coffee with their books.
To me, this is just the next logical step.
Actually, I don't know if they sell books here
or if it's just a bar with a book-ish décor.
Either way, it appeals to me. How about you?

Weekend Reflections

Welcome to Bloomingdale's.  I was just entering
the store and stopped to snap this picture.
It wasn't until I uploaded it to my computer
that I realized this shot is just full of reflections.
