loooong freight trains down in Virginia when I was
a kid.  Came across this one when I was there last week—
fortunately, we didn't have to wait as it rolled slowly by.

It's the Queensboro, aka Ed Koch, aka 59th Street
(feelin' groovy) Bridge. Heard a story once about
a guy who was walking under this bridge and
started whistling that song. Then he heard someone
behind him whistling it too—so he turned around
and saw that it was Paul Simon!  I love that
story, even though it's probably an urban legend.

Early-morning fog on the Brooklyn Bridge.
It's becoming harder and harder to take a shot on
this bridge that doesn't include evidence of
ongoing (apparently until at least 2014) renovations.

Took this on the weekend, when cars are not
allowed in Central Park, but you can still see clearly
how this park was designed for pedestrians foremost,
with plenty of walkways under the (few) roadways.

which I've shown you before

Here's the San Mateo Bridge (I'm sure
Louis recognized it right away).  And why
can't they keep the plane windows clean?
Would have loved to meet Louis, but I was
just passing through (again) and it was a very, 
very tight connection.  Maybe one of these
days I'll actually get out of the airport!

This is the Pont de la Tournelle, seen recently from
the Ile Saint Louis on a gorgeous "springtime in Paris"
day (and that's the Arab Institute in the background).

the eastern tip of Ile de la Cité with the Left Bank.
It was taken from the Pont au Double (and off

I'm changing planes at the SFO airport as I post this.  Unfortunately, all shades were
pulled as we flew in and I had an aisle seat—so no hope of capturing a San Fran bridge.
Guess it'll have to be my usual instead of Louis'.

As seen from the very tippy-top of Notre Dame's south
tower, here are the Pont de la Tournelle and the Pont de
Sully just beyond. (For a "hat trick +1," the Austerlitz and
Charles de Gaulle bridges are just visible in the distance.)
