We got our first snow of the year yesterday, and I took a walk in the botanic garden— and crossed this pretty little stone bridge over a frozen stream. [To see more Sunday bridges, go chez Louis la Vache.]

Sunday Bridges
The other day I was reminiscing about encountering loooong freight trains down in Virginia when I was a kid. Came across this one when I was there last week— fortunately, we didn't have to wait as it rolled slowly by. To see more Sunday bridges, visit Louis la Vache.]

Sunday Bridges
Bridge over the Mekong Delta, in Vietnam. (This was taken by my peripatetic daughter Kate.) [To see more Sunday Bridges, go here, chez Louis la Vache.)

Sunday Bridges
| It's the Queensboro, aka Ed Koch, aka 59th Street (feelin' groovy) Bridge. Heard a story once about a guy who was walking under this bridge and started whistling that song. Then he heard someone behind him whistling it too—so he turned around and saw that it was Paul Simon! I love that story, even though it's probably an urban legend. Sunday Bridges
There's a beautiful park down below the Manhattan Bridge—where you can get up close and personal. [To see more Sunday Bridges, go chez Louis la Vache.]

Sunday Bridges
Early-morning fog on the Brooklyn Bridge. It's becoming harder and harder to take a shot on this bridge that doesn't include evidence of ongoing (apparently until at least 2014) renovations. [To see more bridges, go here , chez Louis la Vache.]

Sunday Bridges
This charming little bridge is in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. (I am so lucky to have this beautiful place nearby!) [To see more bridges, go here, chez Louis la Vache.] {And speaking of Paris—it has lots of bridges, you know—tomorrow is the last day to enter Jordan's wonderful contest at Oh Happy Day.}

Two Paris bridges—the Pont de l'Archeveche up ahead, seen from under the Pont de la Tournelle. [To see more bridges go here, chez Louis la Vache.]

Sunday Bridges
Took this on the weekend, when cars are not allowed in Central Park, but you can still see clearly how this park was designed for pedestrians foremost, with plenty of walkways under the (few) roadways. [For more Sunday Bridges, go here, chez Louis la Vache.]

It's the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, which I've shown you before from a different perspective.

Sunday Bridges
| Here's the San Mateo Bridge (I'm sure Louis recognized it right away). And why can't they keep the plane windows clean? Would have loved to meet Louis, but I was just passing through (again) and it was a very, very tight connection. Maybe one of these days I'll actually get out of the airport! | This is the Pont de la Tournelle, seen recently from the Ile Saint Louis on a gorgeous "springtime in Paris" day (and that's the Arab Institute in the background). [To see more bridges, go here chez Louis la Vache.] |

Sunday Bridges
This is the Pont de l'Archeveché, which connects the eastern tip of Ile de la Cité with the Left Bank. It was taken from the Pont au Double (and off in the distance is the Pont de la Tournelle). [To see more Sunday bridges, go here chez Louis la Vache.]

I'm changing planes at the SFO airport as I post this. Unfortunately, all shades were pulled as we flew in and I had an aisle seat—so no hope of capturing a San Fran bridge. Guess it'll have to be my usual instead of Louis'. [See more bridges here, chez Louis la Vache.]

Another Venetian bridge (trust me, I have more). This is the Ponte Briati. As Bert from Venice Daily Photo would point out: There's always someone wearing red! [See more bridges here, chez Louis la Vache.]

This pretty little stone bridge crosses the rio della Salute, in Venice. (I'm wondering how you get in and out of that blue boat.) [See more bridges here, chez Louis la Vache.]

Sunday Bridges
This is what you get when you try to shoot the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges— at night and from a boat on choppy water. (To be honest, I like the effect.)
Here's the same thing, captured with slightly less movement a few moments later. [See more bridges here.]

How about a detail? This little bird is perched on one of the cables of the Brooklyn Bridge. [To see more Sunday Bridges, go here chez Louis la Vache.]

As seen from the very tippy-top of Notre Dame's south tower, here are the Pont de la Tournelle and the Pont de Sully just beyond. (For a "hat trick +1," the Austerlitz and Charles de Gaulle bridges are just visible in the distance.) [You'll find more Sunday Bridges here, chez Louis la Vache.]
