52 Photos Project
| The prompt for Week 3: street art As much as I dislike the "work" of no-talent taggers, that's how much I love real street art. This was down in the meatpacking district, near the High Line. The hair is Marilyn Monroe's, the faces here are clearly Madonna and Angelina Jolie (there's another one nearby that features the face of Leonard Nimoy), and they're all created by an artist known as Mr. Brainwash. | Prompt for Week 3: Where We Meet An interesting prompt, and I did go into the archives for this one. When I lived in Paris (a long time ago), the Café de Flore was my favorite meeting place. In those days, even a poor kid like me could afford to live in St. Germain. The waiters would let you sit there (sometimes with Sartre and de Beauvoir deep in thought or conversation at the next table!) for as long as you could nurse a café or a glass of wine—and they didn't cost a lot either. Even though it kills me to pay $10 for a cup of coffee there now, I still like to go to the Flore when I'm in Paris, nurse that coffee until it's ice cold, and reminisce.
