The prompt this week: Sweets, treats, and feasts. I considered gingerbread houses, Christmas cupcakes, even red and green M&Ms and ribbon candy. But by New Year's Day, I've had my fill of sugar and am ready to tuck into this traditional Southern dish, hoppin' John, which features good old black-eyed peas and collard greens. Yum! You are exactly right about the overdose of sugar and sweets. I have found myself looking for green vegetables as well!

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. That's why I don't buy any sweets for the house because I know I'll encounter enough out in the world. I've never had collard greens before but I love black-eyed peas.
